Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy this as a gift for my parents (or grandparents)?

Yes, and it makes a truly meaningful gift. We often work with adult children who want to preserve their parents' or grandparents’ stories while they’re still here to share them. We’ll guide them gently through the process — and we promise they won’t feel “on the spot.” Many even say it was the best gift they’ve ever received.

Is everything confidential?

Your story is yours to tell — and yours to share. We treat every project with the utmost discretion and care. Nothing is published, shared, or stored without your consent. Many clients choose to keep their story private until it's time to pass it on. Others can’t wait to share.

Will you be able to update my eulogy in a few years? What will it cost?

Absolutely. Life changes — and so should your story. We offer update sessions at a reduced fee based on the scope of the revision. Whether you've had new milestones, new perspectives, or just want a lighter or deeper tone, we’ll make sure your eulogy still sounds like you.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on the format and scope of your story. We offer packages ranging from simple eulogies to legacy movies. Contact us for a quote tailored to your needs, and we’ll always be transparent about pricing up front.

“Retelling my stories so that they could be preserved for posterity was like living them all over again – such a joyful adventure.”

I’m not a good storyteller. Will you help me shape my story?

That’s what we do best. You don’t need to be a writer or a talker — you just need to show up. We’ll ask thoughtful questions, listen deeply, and find the thread that ties it all together. Most clients are surprised by how easy and even fun the process becomes.

Can you share examples of stories you’ve helped write?

Yes — with permission, of course. Many of our clients have generously allowed us to share excerpts or case studies of their stories. These examples show the wide range of voices we work with: from a 99 year woman who was with the first Girl Scout troop, to a grandfather who decided that sailing was his metaphor for living.  Some excerpts are on this website. We’re happy to share more samples that reflect the tone and format you’re curious about.

What does “Heirloom Histories” entail?

"Pass It On" is our signature heirloom storytelling service. We help you tell the story behind the objects you plan to pass down — the watch, the ring, the painting, the recipe box, even the quirky brass monkey — and document it through words, photos, or short films. These stories give meaning to the things you leave behind and help ensure they’re treasured, not forgotten.

Do you offer workshops?

Yes! Our workshops are designed to help people dip a toe into legacy storytelling. Whether it’s a community group, a senior center, or just a curious group of friends, we offer guided sessions to help you begin — no pressure to finish. Just a supportive, inspiring space to start thinking out loud.

I haven’t done anything particularly interesting in my life. How are you going to make my obituary "epic"?

You’d be surprised. It’s not about climbing Everest — it’s about the day you said “yes” to something terrifying, the way you made Thanksgiving feel magical, or the moment you realized what truly mattered. We’re trained to listen between the lines and bring out the depth and beauty in the everyday. Your story doesn’t need to be dramatic to be unforgettable.
